Spoken Word

A great place to get started

Spoken Word
A spoken word video is great if you don't have a lot of time to spend on storyboarding, filming, speaking to camera etc. Here's a simple walkthrough:
Write a simple piece of poetry: Something like a Kenning Poem or a Haiku can work really well with this kind of project.
Split your text to scenes: Start with a line per scene, or experiment with grouping lines which follow the same theme.
Set background video clips: Use the Adobe Stock video library to quickly search for striking background videos. Can't find what you want? Mix it up with stock photos, or your own images created with generative A.I.
The spoken word: Record a voiceover for each scene - reciting your poem.
Tighten up the edit: Now that you have your voiceover, trim the scene lengths back so that you don't have big gaps.
Add the finishing touches: Add appropriate background music, transition effects, and even some animations on your text.

And that's it! You'll be amazed with how effective a spoken word video can be - and it's the easiest way to get involved in FilmFest'25!!
